The pipes in the photo on the left run from inside the plumbing lab up to the roof. Bhavin is insulating these pipes and will then connect them to the solar thermal panel. These pipes will be supported by the steel support rods that Bhavin has previously made.
In the photo on the right Bhavin and Danny are harnessed to the roof for safety. Bhavin is stabilizing Danny's ladder as he brazes the pipe to the top corner of the panel with the incoming glycol solution pipeline.
Bhavin and Danny are using duct tape to hold the pipes in place so they cannot move during the process of brazing the pipes. The duct tape will have to be removed once the brazing on those pipes is complete. Next, they are brazing the piping that connects to the piping on the roof. Bhavin is hold a wet cloth against the insulation to keep it away from the heat from brazing so that it does not melt or start on fire. They are moving along quite quickly so this system should be up and running in no time!
Bhavin has measured and cut the steel rod to create a support structure for the water-glycol pipes on the roof. The piping will sit on top of these structures to ensure maximum stability and provide necessary height for the pipelines to run on level. This needs to be done before the pipelines on the roof are insulated and brazed to ensure they are on a proper level. The supports will be placed every 6 feet before the pipelines reach the panel.

Brazing is a high temperature metal-joining process that is used on all joints on the piping to ensure that the extremely hot water-glycol solution will not leak out once the whole system is up and running. These pipes are part of the pumping panel system
Danny gave Bhavin a solid C on the first joint which was quickly followed by a B. At this rate he’ll be at an A+ in no time!
